Financial Responsibilities

The Parish Council is responsible for:

  • Setting an annual budget to cover council services and projects
  • Collecting the precept (our share of the Council Tax)
  • Managing public funds wisely and legally
  • Publishing key financial documents as required by law

Precept 2026-27


The Parish Council is committed to ensuring that residents receive value for money while continuing to maintain and support local services and projects for the community.

The precept for 2026/27 has been set at £29,870 compared with £27,800 for 2025/26, an increase of £2,070. This has been determined through a carefully balanced budget process, taking into account rising costs, future commitments, and the need to deliver services effectively and responsibly on behalf of residents.

For a Band D property, this increase equates to approximately 60 pence per month. The Council remains mindful of the financial pressures on households and will continue to manage public funds prudently and transparently.

We prepare and publish our accounts each year in accordance with the Transparency Code for Smaller Authorities and the Accounts and Audit Regulations.

  • Certificate of Exemption (if applicable)
  • Explanation of variances
  • Bank Reconciliation
  • Public Rights Notice (giving residents the opportunity to inspect the accounts)
